Gear list, part 1

Here’s some of the basic building blocks for ultra runners: an excellent hydration vest with lots of storage, a reliable and accurate heart rate sensor and, what seems to be the highest recommended Garmin watch.

OK, the Garmin Forerunner 965 is on my personal wish list. Currently, I’m running with the Garmin Forerunner 245 Music and am hoping to get the upgrade this year.

The Salomon Advanced Skin 12 is my new favorite. I’ve used another vest before (Camelbak Marathoner) but the Salomon offers so much more room for all the stuff I need to carry for my long runs and races.

The Polar H10 is, by far, the most reliable and accurate heart rate sensor out there. You might want to check out the video from a scientist on this topic.
